Information / F.A.Q 1. How do the journals work? Since Roth and Wright set up the initial agency together, they co-created a network labeled Secure. Secure was designed to be a form of communication on the move for all operatives to be able to access, a way of corresponding, bonding together departments and also creating a sense of community for a bunch of people who were essentially, going to be lying for the rest of their lives. Secure is where any journal post is automatically placed. When the Roth Agency was founded, Roth created a sub-sect of Secure -- simply called 'Agency'. This network operates on a secondary level to Secure, only accessible by operatives and those prepared to spend ten days constantly hacking into Agency coding. Wright did something similar, only it's known as IN - Intelligence Network. Unfortunately, Secure was made unsecure by a hacking war in '02, that resulted in the network's corruption. While Wright, who retained ownership, fixed it, he also then sold it to gain additional funding; anyone who purchased a Secure ID could log onto the network -- and those who it appeals to most are going to be those that enjoy the secure internet experience. 2. So how do I post? If your entry is open to all users of Secure - which is anyone with an ID that could feasibly buy a $1000 package of software, then that is the automatic default; visible to all members of Secure. If you are posting within Agency or IN networks, lock it in the entry as [Agency] or [IN]. It's more likely Agency/IN is used as forms of communication for work, whereas Secure is more of a pleasure activity; you cannot trace a Secure ID, the IP address is randomized, it is basically impossible to obtain traceable data - so the operatives are free to communicate freely on it. Except stating their full name, alias and job would probably be a bad idea. ;-) 3. What's the difference between The Agency and I7? Basically, the difference between freedom-fighters and the army. I7 is a governmental agency, even if the government do not acknowledge it. As such, it has to abide by certain regulations; kill one too many people and you may find yourself with a nice padded jail cell in an off-shore prison, for example. Bureaucracy is alive and kicking in I7; sexual harassment isn't tolerated, promotion is a matter of paperwork and earning your stripes. Those in I7 will have been recruited from salubrious backgrounds, or have been previous criminals with something to offer the organization in return for a waived sentence. The Agency on the other hand, doesn't care where you come from, nor what they're asked to do. A far more mercenary organization, it's ruled internally and the demands placed on its workers are higher. Nepotism frequently occurs, if you're a female you've probably been passed over for promotion once or twice, and ruthlessness is rewarded. I7's unofficial motto is 'don't fuck up'. The Agency's is 'don't fuck up and get caught'. 4. I don't want to play a spy, what else you got? What do you want? The game is open to all and any character concepts that might have interaction with I7 or the Agency or both. We will be desperately in need of the arms dealers, crime lords, mafia, politicians, rich-families-with-kids-to-kidnap, to the coffee kid who doesn't really know why a herd of men in black suits show up at around 7.30 am for coffee on the run. This is Washington DC, so we will be happy to take any concepts for characters involved in politics, information (Georgetown and other universities are in the area) informants, etc, etc. While the spies have a built in dynamic for running into one another - external characters are far more important in getting plot. So bear that in mind when picking a character. 5. Where are the places located? Washington DC central has a bunch of the governmental agencies all located around the Mall. Ours, being secret, is not there. Nor is The Agency, which pretends to be something entirely different. I7 is a big building, what with the laboratories, cafeteria, offices, ballistics range, etc, etc, and DC doesn't allow for skyscrapers that are taller than the Capitol. I7 is therefore located just outside the city, toward Virginia/Dulles way, out where there's a lot of space, a lot of land and the 'no skyscrapers' rule doesn't apply. There's a large car-park, and the building is labeled as 'Ministry of Internal Affairs' - if you get past the armed guard and dogs to see the sign. High security, isolated environment. There is however, a bar and a coffee shop on the premises. The Agency on the other hand, is located in the business district, having taken over several buildings side-by-side. They have an additional testing ground outside the city, but for the most part, they're central city-located. Everyone else are where they want to be. No, we do not have maps as these buildings don't actually exist. (thanks to Ali 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. |
